Mountain Lion Hunts

At this time we are offering excellent cougar hunts with some of the best houndsmen in the business. These hunts take place in various regions of the western states, all with different types of terrain. Hunter success is generally 100% with most outfitters. Also, reduced harvests of cougar due to a lack of hunter interest have resulted in all time high populations in some areas and older more mature cats. Areas with increases in mule deer and elk populations have also seen an increase in cougar populations and hunting has been very good. Listed below are the different hunts we offer in each state. Steve's Outdoor Adventures "On Call" Cougar Packages

Our "On Call" cougar hunting program works very nicely and this is how we prefer to book your personalized cougar hunt at Steve's Outdoor Adventures. By doing the hunt on an "on call" basis you are able to take advantage of the best possible conditions in the best possible area to maximize your success on a mature male mountain lion. Here is the process for booking:

1. We have you pay a $2500 (50%) deposit at the time of booking. At this time you are placed on our list of the season's cougar hunters. As our houndsmen call in to request hunters, we start calling down the list of booked cougar hunters. We call in the order booked. We understand that not everyone can come at the time when the weather turns perfect, schedules can be hard to work with sometimes. So we call down the list until we have someone who can go on the hunt. The list stays in that order until the season is over. Anyone who can not go during the times that they are called that season will have their deposits rolled to the following season. We understand that you might not be able to come when we call, and we have a flexibility policy. So we expect the same flexibility from our hunters - sometimes we have bad winters when the weather is not conducive to cougar hunting. So we require our hunters to be understanding of this before booking their hunt.

When a hunter gets called and they confirm that they can go - we have 24-48 hours maximum to get you into the hunting area. You have to be able to buy a short notice plane ticket or drive out to the hunt quickly. Time is important when we are trying to take advantage of weather conditions. Upon arrival our hunters must have the appropriate final balance ($2500) in cash or certified funds paid before hunting. Licenses are purchased in most states upon arrival, except Utah which has a waiting period so we buy them before you go out for the hunt, and in some states you will have to have a hunter's safety card so make sure you have one!

Upon completion of your hunt we request that you call our office and confirm that you did show up, and that you completed your hunt. And we respectfully request that you email us pictures of you with your cougar as soon as possible for our website.

At this time we book all of our cougar hunters in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Alberta, and British Columbia.

Booking Set Dates

Optional cougar hunting availability - some hunters have to book their hunts by scheduling set dates. We understand that "on call" does not work for everyone. We do have the ability to look at the schedules and try our best to schedule someone on set hunting dates. We can not however guarantee that the weather will be good for hunting cougars but we will do our best to make your hunt sucessful. We have a 90% success rate on hunters who schedule on set dates, and nearly a 100% success rate on hunters who come "on call" and take advantage of pristine hunting conditions.
